Weekly Self Defense Classes! Learn self defense martial art techniques! Sifu Green of Chaos Fighting Tactics will lead us through a weekly series of lessons teaching the basic principles of how to prevent, escape or defend from sexual assaults, muggings, home invasions and personal attacks. This event is for ages 16 and up. Proper attire is a must. This event is free to residents with a valid center ID pass. Please RSVP with your name, address, and telephone number. Snow tubing anyone? The center is sponsoring a snow tubing day trip for Saturday, February 13 taking place at Ski Liberty in Caroll Valley, PA (www.skiliberty.com ). We will leave the center at 10am Saturday morning and return at 5pm the same day. Total cost for Covington residents per person is $38 ($15 for transportation plus $23 for 2 hours of snow tubing) for nonresidents $53 ($30 for transportation plus $23 for 2 hours of snow tubing). This trip requires a minimum of 25 people. The more people the cheaper the cost! So tell your neighbors, friends, family, and colleagues!!! RSVP with deposit (nonrefundable), $15 for Covington residents and $30 for nonresidents, by January 15. Total due by February 5. Transportation will be provided by Dillon’s charter bus service, so we will be riding in comfort! Lunch and snacks will be provided. Date & Time: Saturday February 13, 10am – 5pm Pick up & Drop off Location: Covington Community Center Destination: Liberty Mountain Resort,78 Country ClubTrail, Carroll Valley, PA 17320 Valentine’s Day Brunch with Live Jazz Enjoy a plateful of love with homemade buffet style serving: pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, grits, biscuits and assorted beverages with a live jazz pianist and vocalist in the background. This event is limited to 40 people and you must be on the guest list so RSVP early! This event is free to residents with a valid center ID pass. Nonresidents with a guest pass must pay $10. Spring Fling Teen Talent Show Calling all teens!!! If you can sing, dance, step, perform comedy, play an instrument, perform spoken word, or anything else that’s talented and entertaining we want you! Compete for a $100 cash prize. Date & Time of Auditions: Friday, February 26, 6pm-8pm Date & Time of Talent Show: Friday, March 26, 7pm-9pm Location: Covington Community Center Can you bowl a 300? If not, join us! Would you like to spend a Saturday afternoon trying to perfect your strike! Then join us every third Saturday for an adult bowling party during the winter at Crofton Bowling (www.croftonbowl.com). Date & Time: Saturday, March 20, 2:30-4:30 Location: 2115 Priest Bridge Drive, Crofton, Maryland 21114 Kiddie Easter Party We will have a bunny magician, games, snacks and a wonderful Easter egg hunt outdoors (weather permitting). Please make sure each child attends with an empty Easter basket so they can stuff it full of goodies! This event is limited to 50 children. Daily Center Activities: Tuesday Tutoring 2pm - 5pm: Children in grades (grades 2-8) can bring their homework and school assignments that they are working on and receive instructional assistance from staff members. Children will be divided into two groups Elementary and Secondary. Light snacks will be provided. Note high school students are welcome to attend and assist our young students with their homework, community service hours will be given. Download an application here . Thursday Family Movie Night 6pm – 8pm: Each night will feature a new movie that will be rented from Block Buster/Netflix with popcorn and snacks. Thursday Adult Cardio Aerobics 7pm – 8pm: Join us as we follow a fitness DVD and sweat off those pounds! Friday Family Game Night 6pm – 7pm: Each night will feature a different game and families will be mixed into different teams to encourage mingling. (Actual games may vary depending on availability of items and age and number of players). Pizza provided.

How good is your figure 8?
Join us for a day of free ice skating at Bowie Ice Rink on the last Saturday of each month this winter. We cover the cost of admission. You just have to show up and pay for skates! This event is limited to 20 people. This event is free to residents with a valid center ID pass. Please RSVP with your name, address, telephone.

Wednesday Game Day 2pm – 5pm: Children in grades (grades 2-8) will be involved in Montessori styled free play with semi structure provided by staff members. Children will be divided into two groups Elementary and Secondary. Light snacks will be provided. Note high school students are welcome to attend and assist our young students; community service hours will be given.
All activities offered at the center are free to residents with Center ID!
